Requirements

  • One year as an Accountant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting; or Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the cost reporting process for state mental hospitals and youth facilities while ensuring compliance with federal rules and departmental procedures.
  • Reviews cost reports and financial documents to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Interprets Medicare rules and guides facilities on proper accounting procedures.
  • Analyzes audit adjustments, identifies issues, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Consults with facility accountants and managers to resolve reporting questions.
  • Trains staff on cost reporting requirements and use of reporting systems.
  • Compiles and verifies data submissions required for state and federal reporting.
