About The Position

The Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers was created by Act 274 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session. The Commission is charged with the administration and collection of sales and use tax with respect to remote sellers. We promote uniformity and simplicity in compliance, and we adhere to the Code of Government Ethics while providing leadership and professionalism in our duties to those we represent and serve. The accountant 3 position is a senior accounting role responsible for advanced financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting to support accurate sales and use tax collection for remote sellers. This role supports a growing, high-impact area of tax administration and offers the opportunity to help shape the financial functions of the organization.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, and reconciliation of bank accounts is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Directing and handling all fiscal activities for the Louisiana Sales and Use Tax Commission for Remote Sellers.
  • Reconciling daily deposits
  • Reconciling monthly bank statements
  • Prepares required financial statements and fiscal reports, which include the compilation and analysis of data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Prepares, monitors, reconciles, and forecasts revenues, expenditures, and budgets.
  • Research payments received in Error.
  • Issue refund checks for approved refunds
