About The Position

As an Accountant 2 at Nordstrom, under the general supervision of the Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, you will be responsible for moderately complex accounting activities relating to prepaid expenses, inter-company, various accruals and cash. A day in the life… Accurately record transactions into the general ledger Accurately reconcile accounts, summarize activity and resolve reconciling differences appropriately. Understand the Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts, analyze and investigate unusual trends and activities. Perform accounting and control procedures related to moderately complex balance sheet accounts. Support internal and external audit efforts to ensure compliance Able to effectively contribute to the decision-making process Constantly strives to exceed goals, requirements, previous accomplishments and expectations Contribute to month-end/quarter-end/year-end close process to ensure timely, accurate financial data that is in compliance with GAAP and accounting policies Assist the team with ad-hoc projects as directed

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Accounting
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required
  • Previous Corporate Accounting experience
  • Good Understanding of SOX and internal controls
  • Experience with Essbase Excel Add-in, prepaid and inter-company accounting, Oracle General Ledger and Discoverer, and reconciliation tools.
