About The Position

At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, we exist to create more hope and more moments for Albertans facing cancer, no matter where they live or the type of cancer they’re facing. The Accountability Manager strengthens the Foundation's ability to generate credible, actionable insights by overseeing the validation, measurement, and reporting practices that drive responsible and effective funding. This role is a critical element to a mature funding request program, ensuring the accuracy of information used in decision making, supporting the development of robust impact measurement frameworks, and facilitating coordination between internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., data analytics, evaluation, health sciences, business) or a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience conducting impact measurement, program evaluation, or performance reporting, preferably in healthcare, clinical research, public health, or academic environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data visualization tools and Microsoft 365, including intermediate skills in Excel (functions, pivot tables).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical, clinical, or research information into clear, accessible insights to inform compelling narratives for diverse audiences, including executives and external partners.
  • Formal process improvement certification or experience developing and improving processes, templates, or workflows to enhance consistency and accountability.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Background Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with fundraising principles and donor stewardship is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with CRM or grant-management systems (e.g. Salesforce) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and enforce quality standards for all reporting, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with ACF’s accountability expectations.
  • Identify gaps, risks, or inconsistencies in reporting and work with the Director, Impact & Accountability to resolve them proactively.
  • Develop guidance materials and deliver training to support partners in meeting ACF’s reporting expectations.
  • Lead the creation of dashboards, scorecards, and other tools to monitor progress and performance.
  • Validate the information provided in funding requests, impact updates and impact reporting.
  • Synthesize findings from monitoring and evaluation activities to highlight strategic insights, trends, and areas for improvement across the portfolio.
  • Lead or support periodic funding portfolio reviews to evaluate performance, compliance, and long‑term impact.
  • Develop and implement frameworks for measuring and reporting the impact of initiatives funded by ACF.
  • Conduct the preliminary review of all funding requests, no-cost extension requests and amendment requests; with the Director, Impact & Accountability assess rationale, consult with trusted external stakeholders and prepare recommendations for the Vice President, Impact & Accountability.
  • Serve as a primary accountability contact for funding recipients, providing guidance on expectations, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Communicate complex impact and compliance information in clear, accessible language tailored to diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Liaise with healthcare and academic teams to gather, verify, and interpret information.
  • Partner closely with the Manager, Impact & Accountability to ensure agreements include clear, measurable, and feasible reporting and outcome expectations that support future impact evaluation.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups to strengthen alignment on accountability, reporting, and impact measurement practices.
  • Develop, adhere to and continuously improve upon relevant process documents including workflows, templates, and checklists.
  • Prepare briefing materials, meeting summaries, and decision support documents for leadership.
  • Lead the maintenance of key data assets used for impact measurement, reporting, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Support the development of leadership briefings and Board reporting, as requested.
