About The Position

The Account Review Specialist shall be responsible to use and maintain knowledge of multiple computer systems and payer portals/web-based applications or systems on a daily basis. This individual will be responsible for full account resolution, including the review/audit of all activity, as well as to update data in appropriate systems and filing for insurance. The Specialist will provide financial assistance information and ensure proper and timely account adjustments. Additionally, the Specialist will review and confirm accurate patient responsible balances. The Specialist will provide assistance to patients and patient's family phone calls and walk-ins. This individual will also review to ensure appropriate payment posting and identification of overpayments/refunds due, and to enter any account notations. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong analytical and lateral thinking skills.
  • Must be able to communicate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external constituencies.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with third party payers.
  • Ability to maintain professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to provide positive customer service experience to guests, visitors and patients.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to achieve maximum efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years medical billing/collection or related experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in healthcare with knowledge of third party payers and denials preferred.
  • CPAR certification preferred.
