About The Position

The Account Manager / Outside Sales Representative drives sales growth and company profitability by developing relationships with existing customers and identifying new business opportunities. The role combines inside and outside sales, promotes company products and services, and provides technical support within an assigned territory. Purvis Industries is a family-owned industrial distributor with more than 75 years of experience and 100 locations across 21 states.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 2 years of experience in a similar sales role.
Proven ability to meet sales goals and grow business revenue.
Strong understanding of effective sales strategies and techniques.
Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
Strong verbal and written communication, listening, and negotiation abilities.
Self-motivation and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical standards.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities effectively.
Ability to perform business math calculations, including basic algebra, ratios, and percentages.
Strong presentation and public-speaking skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and distribution software systems.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to work collaboratively with employees, customers, and vendors.
PPE is required when visiting job sites in accordance with OSHA/MSHA standards.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
Ability to climb structures and work at elevated heights in various industrial environments.
Ability to work in industrial facilities, including chemical plant environments.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree.
Three or more years of experience in a similar sales role.
Product and application experience.
MSHA and OSHA certifications or training.

Responsibilities

Identify, contact, quote, and close sales opportunities with prospective and targeted customers.
Grow sales and average order value through cross-selling, upselling, add-on sales, promotions, and new product offerings.
Maintain knowledge of company products and applications to support customers and prospects.
Monitor competitor pricing, products, market activity, and customer trends.
Maintain a professional appearance and provide exceptional customer service.
Collaborate with management to develop territory plans and establish sales goals.
Evaluate sales potential for new and existing customers through research, observation, and customer interaction.
Prepare and conduct product presentations for new and existing customers.
Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
Identify and address customer satisfaction or dissatisfaction trends.
Develop new business opportunities and expand existing accounts through strategic sales efforts.
Build and maintain customer relationships to support long-term satisfaction and retention.
Develop product knowledge and industry expertise to support sales growth and professionalism.
Assist customers with special requests, problem resolution, and product information.
Visit customer job sites as needed to provide measurements, consultations, or customer support.
Gather competitive and market intelligence while collaborating with internal teams.
Negotiate pricing and terms in alignment with company profitability requirements.
Prepare and present customer quotations in a timely manner.
Communicate significant changes in product demand or market conditions to management.
Assist with scheduled physical inventory counts as required.
Monitor customer credit status and communicate concerns appropriately.
Stay informed of local codes, industry standards, and customer preferences.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Participate in sales meetings, supplier training, trade shows, and industry events.
Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in customer and supplier interactions.
Maintain proficiency with contact management, distribution, and office software systems.
Represent the company professionally in industry associations and local organizations.
