Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience preferred.
  • Must be a highly skilled relationship manager with the ability to build deep, mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to set actionable goals for each account and achieve those goals.
  • Must have ability to apply analytical concepts to complex business problems and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must possess deep product expertise across Vulcan offerings, including aggregates, ready-mix, and asphalt.
  • Must possess negotiating, influencing, and persuasive selling skills and have ability to effectively execute sales plays for all customer segments.
  • Must display understanding of sales and marketing best practices.
  • Must be able to resolve issues with large customers without damaging the overall relationship.
  • Must have ability to plan and organize work, balance multiple demands, and consistently follow up and follow through.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Must display the highest degree of integrity, personally inspiring trust of teammates and customers.
  • Must be a proficient computer, tablet, and cell phone user and comfortable with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have ability to manage a complex set of daily tasks across customers in accordance with overall sales goals.
  • Must have ability to drive, possessing a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and Maintain Business. Assume responsibility for a set of top assigned aggregate, asphalt, and/or ready mix accounts in multiple markets, plant locations, or geographic areas.
  • Support pricing strategy decisions and negotiations.
  • Spearhead Company effort to win contracts for megaprojects.
  • Build Relationships. Serve as the primary point of contact for each assigned large account (may span multiple sales districts) and build mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders at each account.
  • Account Planning. Prepare and execute account plans for each customer.
  • Organize and facilitate planning conversations with assigned accounts in order to increase share of wallet.
  • Gather Market Intelligence. Keep the Sales team well-informed of market and customer insights.
  • Leverage Vulcan Resources. Understand market activity, make informed decisions, lead customers through customer sales lifecycle, and continually facilitate ease of doing business.
  • Promote a Safe Environment. Display the importance of a safe and supportive working environment for all Vulcan customers, coworkers, and competitors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
