About The Position

The Account Manager (AM) owns execution of operational performance strategy for Accredo Specialty Pharmacy clients within the direct payer space, taking a proactive, data-driven approach to identify risks, uncover opportunities, and drive measurable results. This role actively shapes and advances service strategy while leading end-to-end execution in support of medium and small PBMs and national health plans, with direct accountability for delivering persistency, influencing membership growth, and earnings targets. The AM plays a lead role in managing client relationships in alignment with the Account Executive, assuming direct ownership for select clients based on size and complexity. This role actively drives cross-functional alignment across product and operational teams, proactively identifies gaps, removes barriers, and ensures systems and processes are optimized to meet client needs and improve efficiency for the organization, segment, and team.

Requirements

  • College Degree or 5+ years of experience in a relevant role.
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare / managed care business, including the following: product knowledge, underwriting principals, risk and financial analysis skills, marketing processes, account management experience, and knowledge of pharmacy operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing skills.
  • Ability to make sense of complex, unstructured information and communicate the key takeaways through effective storytelling.
  • Strategic and financial savvy; ability to partner with AE to grow book of business.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills; ability to plan for both the long and short term; drive priorities and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster strong working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate and lead within a heavily matrixed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the organization to achieve operational excellence, growth, profitability, and persistency objectives through effective patient service oversight, account retention, and management strategies.
  • Effectively collaborates with Accredo partners on benefit, service, and relational strategies targeting enhanced patient and client experience.
  • Maintain market/competitive knowledge on service trends and differentiators.
  • Effectively collaborate with the Account Executive (AE) on account retention, growth, and satisfaction strategies (multi-product/operational collaboration for operations, network, marketing, product, etc.).
  • Drive inclusion of patient installation, product, and service partners where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with AE on renewal activities, to include RFP involvement, service issues, performance guarantees (PG), corrective action plans (CAP), and implementations.
  • Develop and maintain “trusted-advisor” relationships with clients and patients by proactively engaging in needs and goals discussions. Leverage Accredo's capabilities and services to differentiate Accredo from the competition.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Accredo products and services across all product lines, benefit designs, access, patient care, and outcomes reporting.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Accredo operational effectiveness and confidently and effectively articulate the impacts for the clients and patients.
  • Act as lead in managing PG reporting requests, including analytics and presentation.
  • Develop and implement upsell and margin strategies for target accounts to drive enrollment growth, network access, and drug adds.
  • Maintain basic understanding and conceptual application of underwriting principals and the contracting process.
  • Effectively leverage resources to fulfill client onsite needs, and offer creative and effective solutions to drive optimal client outcomes and satisfaction while balancing patient/client cost.
  • Represent Accredo in market-based events, quarterly business reviews, on site and over communications.
