About The Position

The Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales and gross profit goals within a defined territory and/or market by proactively seeking new business opportunities within the existing customer base and new leads. This role involves working closely with assigned, existing, and potential customers, maintaining customer relations and files, and entering quotes and orders into the computer system. The Account Manager will advise District Sales Managers (DSMs) of all pending quotations, bids, leads, competitive information, and sales possibilities. They will also establish GP% for bids, process return authorizations, send correspondence and literature, and work back-order reports. Maintaining close contact with the Purchasing Department regarding stock levels, market prices, and vendor discrepancies is also a key function. Participation in vendor shows, product training, association meetings, and P&T training is expected.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail, clear phone voice and excellent communication skills a must.
  • Customer/Employee relations using motivation and diplomacy in difficult situations.
  • Flexible to change, general computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation, organization, and selling skills.
  • French Canadian Speaker - fluent.
  • 1 to 2 years previous sales or Customer Service experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree is preferred, but is not required.
  • Wholesale distribution experience is preferred, but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and gross profit goals within a defined territory and/or market by proactively seeking new business opportunities within existing customer base & new leads.
  • Works closely with assigned, existing, and potential customers in a defined territory.
  • Maintains customer relations & files (current quotes, correspondence, plans, problems, etc. and updates customer information in the computer system.
  • Enters quotes and orders into the computer system while on the phone with the customer.
  • Advises District Sales Managers (DSMs) of all pending quotations, bids, leads, competitive information, and sales possibilities.
  • Establishes GP% to be used in bids, processes return authorizations, sends out correspondence & literature, and works back-order reports.
  • Maintains close contact with the Purchasing Department (advises of low/high stock levels, competitive market prices, and vendor pricing discrepancies).
  • Participates in vendor shows, in-house product training, association meetings, and P&T training.
  • Transmits a daily order sales summary to the National Sales Manager.
  • Issues direct/drop shipments and POs when required.
  • Daily entering and review of QSAs.
  • Daily activity reports to GM and ISM.
  • Assists in planning, designing & launching email promos.
  • Process VISA, Mastercard, debit card payments.
  • AR follow-up & calls to customers.
  • Product search e.g. substitutes, approx for specific applications.
  • Price negotiations.
  • POs for “Drop Ship” tickets.
