About The Position

The Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a retail sales and food services business for Greenstone Meats in Eastern USA. This is a key position requiring the successful candidate to work closely with the North American sales and marketing operations teams toward meeting our shareholder expectations in terms of growth, returns, customer services and company values.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience in regional Retail and Food Services Sales developing and implementing sales and strategy in a sizeable North American or Global Food Services Industry manufacturer and distributor.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the retail and food services business, including setting sales budgets, creating sales and marketing strategies, and executing forward sales plans.
  • Ability to create promotional campaigns across all media and platforms.
  • Understanding of the case-ready retail-ready meat processing systems.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Demonstrated skills in sales planning and execution.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Ability to analyze key drivers, opportunities, and competitive advantages to develop and execute strategies to benefit the Company’s business.
  • Proven ability to develop and convert strategic business relationships into valuable business.
  • High degree of expertise in contract negotiation, structuring, setting, and managing sales quotas and revenue goals.
  • Understanding of and appropriate relationships with supply chains to ensure fulfillment of customer needs.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, credibility, and trustworthiness.
  • Tenacity in pursuing goals and ensuring personal goals align with and contribute to Company goals.
  • Willingness to accept assigned responsibilities from the Regional Sales Manager to support achievement of annual and strategic business goals.
  • Ability to effectively handle high stress, time, and travel demands associated with the role in Eastern USA.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Presentation and ERP software.

  • Prior experience in retail protein sales.
  • Experience conducting business with major retailers such as Safeway/Albertson’s, Trader Joes, Aldi, Kroger, Costco, and other mid-sized retailers.
  • Prior experience with major Food Service distributors such as Sysco, and other wholesalers.
  • CPG Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop an annual sales plan in conjunction with the Regional Sales Director and working closely with the North American marketing team, including long-term marketing plans where appropriate.
  • Create customer-specific retail sales and food service business plans and budgets, ensuring they are complete, align with organizational objectives, adhere to statutory requirements, and are completed on time.
  • Contribute to the planning, development, issuance, and delivery of company promotional and sales communications materials for the region, respecting local language and messaging requirements.
  • Review and confirm monthly and seasonal inventory replenishment orders in line with the annual sales plan and shifting customer demand, working closely with the North American procurement team. Keep the procurement team informed of any planned or new feature/ad activity requiring additional product.
  • Maintain and strengthen mutually beneficial, profitable, effective, and enduring customer relationships through superior communications, programs, and distribution strategies, aiming for strategic and exclusive/primary supply contracts with major retail and food service customers.
  • Identify prospective customers and distribution channels in accordance with the organization's strategic objectives and actively develop relationships to convert them into profitable and sustainable business. Maintain continuous contact with designated clients at buying and senior management levels and regular contact with select industry counterparts and intercompany peers.
  • Maintain a strong market intelligence network to stay informed of competitive activities and customer developments to safeguard the company’s financial and volume interests.
  • Communicate channels of distribution in the region in conjunction with Transportation and Logistics personnel to ensure timely, reliable deliveries of customer orders. Monitor stocks on hand in regional storage centers, maintaining proper inventory levels within corporate guidelines and ensuring proper product rotation.
  • Communicate regularly with major suppliers to educate and maintain an edge over the competition regarding current market events and trends.
  • Achieve all financial, customer, product, and business goals in the Eastern USA retail and food services market for every product line on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Review and monitor accounts receivables for the region, ensuring prompt payments to reduce company exposure to bad debts and improve cash flow. Keep the Regional Sales Director informed of all pertinent development risks, opportunities, and information relating to the Eastern USA market.
  • Prepare monthly territory reports and general comments on customer products versus plan and market activity.
  • Prepare and undertake professional development in conjunction with the Regional Sales Director.
  • Identify and consider opportunities for business growth and development. Work with the team to identify and execute new retail product opportunities. Maintain a network of influencers, stakeholders, and others who may assist in the identification, analysis, validation, and conversion of new business opportunities. Make recommendations where appropriate to pursue and convert such opportunities.
