About The Position

The Account Manager is the primary day-to-day contact. They work closely with Account Directors and ensure the process is followed from project initiation to delivery. Account Managers must be proactive in managing initiatives, while remaining team players and supporting the account team to meet client expectations. They must be communications professionals, capable of managing a wide variety of tasks with growing autonomy and sound judgment. They are trusted advisors, capable of building relationships across the full range of Ogilvy Health resources and capabilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a medical communications agency or an internal medical affairs or medical education department, with a focus on non-promotional medical education activities
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
  • Working knowledge of various medical communication formats (print, digital, live events)
  • Be a self-starter, ready to stay up-to-date in a fast-paced environment
  • Financial management skills – experience in developing estimates and managing project profitability
  • Interest in science and health, medical communications, and a learning attitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • A service-oriented attitude
  • Able to work independently and take ownership while being a team player and mindful of others
  • Ability to listen, learn, and bring value to clients and the agency

Responsibilities

  • Support Account Directors in managing all brand projects and know where projects stand at all times
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of medical education programs and materials, including advisory boards, speaker training, slide decks, webinars, and other educational resources
  • Maintain excellent client service through clear communication, detailed status and budget reporting, and proactive problem-solving
  • Lead client follow-ups and manage the day-to-day client relationship for ongoing projects
  • Develop project briefs and coordinate efforts between project managers, strategy, medical writers, clients, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Review medical content (slide decks, meeting summaries, etc.) against project briefs and client objectives, provide constructive feedback to medical writers, and ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with Health Canada and IMC guidelines
  • Demonstrate an understanding of relevant regulatory guidelines and industry best practices in medical communications (Health Canada, IMC)
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely
  • Possess experience working with medical writers and other scientific or medical professionals
  • Support the Account Director in the day-to-day management of accounts, ensure a positive client relationship, and prepare proposals for new business or ideas
  • Oversee financial tracking and internal billing requests (including budget summaries and reporting overages to Account Directors in a timely manner)
  • Prepare in-clinic deliverables as part of special programs
