Account Executive - Defense Growth

About The Position

The Account Executive is the front-line seller and relationship owner on the Growth team, owning a portfolio of DoD accounts to convert relationships into revenue. You will focus on deal creation and shaping, working with customers to identify problems and frame solutions before formal solicitations exist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in a customer-facing, revenue-generating role (e.g., tech sales, SaaS, consulting, or military)
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM tools
  • Experience with government market research tools such as SAM.gov or GovWin
  • Expertise in consultative or solution-selling methodologies
  • Strong organizational discipline for meeting notes, follow-up tracking, and account planning
  • High-energy networking instincts with a proven ability to build rapport and influence customer thinking

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience specifically within defense business development or DoD acquisition
  • Experience shaping the scope of technical deals rather than selling off a price sheet
  • Deep familiarity with Industry Days, defense conferences, and the military networking circuit

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of DoD accounts as the primary, persistent point of contact to keep Applied present and relevant
  • Drive revenue by creating opportunities and building acquisition pathways such as OTAs, sole-source, or task orders
  • Expand the account footprint by prospecting for new contacts, programs, and budget lines within adjacent program offices
  • Lead customer-facing meetings, present capability briefs, and run demos alongside Solutions Architects
  • Act as a sensor network for the Growth team, communicating structured intelligence regarding shifting priorities and new funding signals
  • Maintain meticulous CRM hygiene in Salesforce to track relationship health and engagement frequency
