BWF is seeking a dynamic, driven individual with deep experience and knowledge in the nonprofit sector to join our team as a business development/account executive (internally title is solutions advisor). In this highly visible, client-facing role, you will own the full sales cycle, from identifying and cultivating prospective client relationships to shaping solutions and ultimately closing new business. As a trusted advisor, you will partner with organizational leaders to understand their most complex challenges and guide them toward impactful strategies and sustainable growth. This role plays a key part in expanding BWF’s reach, requiring the ability to navigate a consultative sales environment, build and manage a robust pipeline, and convert opportunities into long-term clients. Success will be measured by your ability to identify, develop, and close new client relationships while demonstrating the tangible value BWF brings to mission-driven organizations. In addition, you will be a partner in helping determine internal team structure and mechanisms for providing services and measuring client success.

Requirements

  • Deep subject-matter expertise in fundraising and philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success in sales, preferably in a product or consulting environment related to higher education, healthcare, and NGO sectors.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated success closing deals in excess of $1M.
  • Comfort working with established sales quotas.
  • Ability to use a CRM to manage sales processes and track activity across conversations.
  • Proven ability to leverage active listening and structured discovery for uncovering customer needs, defining and refining new service offerings, establishing go-to-market plans, and achieving measurable revenue outcomes via an independent entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft regular thought leadership content and deliver conference presentations.

  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with a team, and be comfortable presenting to executive-level audiences.
  • Attend and actively engage with prospects and clients at industry conferences, associations, and events (e.g., AFP, CASE, AHP) to build market presence and generate leads.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for new business based on BWF’s existing account portfolio and broader market demand and identify new prospects.
  • Cultivate relationships with client leadership and decision-makers to qualify sales opportunities, document scope, and finalize sales.
  • Conduct regular outreach to build new relationships across the industry and to develop, sustain, and manage one's own pipeline.
  • Qualify new business opportunities by conducting needs assessments and discovery conversations with potential clients in senior leadership roles.
  • Communicate a compelling, tailored value proposition of BWF’s consulting services by clearly connecting our expertise to the unique needs, challenges, and strategic goals of nonprofit organizations, demonstrating how our solutions drive measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with service division leadership to determine how BWF packages philanthropic services, including how internal teams are structured, how work is conducted, and how the practice can best focus on supporting client needs.
  • Support the creation and implementation of go-to-market strategies based on existing and new service offerings.
  • Develop growth strategies aligned with revenue goals and client satisfaction metrics; meet established targets and use tracking systems to analyze sales and growth performance.
  • Work with marketing and partnership teams to identify content, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities that further BWF’s brand in philanthropic services.
  • Develop and align on new business opportunity win themes in collaboration with internal stakeholders; Write, review, and coordinate sales proposals and RFP responses, and assist in the creation of materials, including budgets and strategy; assist in the presentation of associated sales materials.
  • Attend conferences as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
