About The Position

We need individuals to provide direct support to our students who are entitled to accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Familiarity with disability services would be beneficial. Training will be provided. The ability to maintain confidentiality is imperative. Applications for Accommodation Assistants are received on a continuous basis. Hiring needs tend to correlate with semester enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the student in a classroom setting (e.g., turning in homework, carrying lab equipment, performing experiments, moving desks).
• Reading a student’s test materials out loud to them (Live Reader).
• Recording the student’s answers (Scribe).
• Taking notes during a class setting (Notetaker).
• Meeting with a student weekly to help them be organized, assist in creating small goals, and encourage the use of appropriate OCC services (Coach).
• Proctoring exams virtually for live synchronous classes (Remote Proctoring).
