Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of benefits experience, with 3+ years in leave and disability administration
  • Demonstrated expertise in FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, STD/LTD, and state leave programs
  • Working knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, ACA, USERRA, Section 125, and related regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and HRIS/benefits platforms

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Senior Leaves & Accommodations Specialist for the Benefits Team with responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Blue Origin, employees, managers, and HRBPs throughout the full leave lifecycle — from initiation through return to work
  • Manage complex leave and accommodation cases (FMLA, ADA, state/local) in partnership with our third-party administrator, Matrix/Reliance
  • Track leave dates, PTO usage, and pay accuracy in coordination with payroll
  • Consult with legal and compliance partners on complex cases and policy development
  • Lead group and 1:1 consultations on leave, disability, and accommodation options
  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements
  • Serve as escalation point for senior leadership on time-sensitive matters
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee medical documentation
  • Stay current on applicable federal and state leave/accommodation laws
