Reporting to a Team Manager, the Senior, Accident Benefits Claims Advisor plays a key role in supporting clients through some of their most challenging moments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Accident Benefits claims experience
  • Strong knowledge of SABS
  • Strong knowledge of Non-MIG / Non-CAT files
  • Strong knowledge of Loss transfer / reserving
  • Experience handling files with moderate to high complexity
  • Background in Nursing (RN), Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation / clinical roles
  • Strong understanding of injury recovery
  • Strong understanding of functional assessments
  • Strong understanding of medical documentation
  • Background in Paralegal or legal assistant roles
  • Background in Litigation support (personal injury, insurance defense, or accident benefits)
  • Experience or exposure to Accident Benefits, personal injury, or insurance-related claims
  • Experience or exposure to reviewing legal documentation, case files, or medical-legal reports
  • Strong ability to interpret Legislation (SABS), policy language, and legal correspondence
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to interpret medical, legal, and technical information
  • Excellent communication and client management abilities
  • Confidence in handling complex and sensitive situations
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior insurance experience is not required — training will be provided.
  • Prior claims experience is an asset but not required — training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, investigate, and manage complex Accident Benefits claims
  • Support clients through recovery by ensuring access to the right benefits and treatment
  • Work closely with medical stakeholders, legal partners, and internal teams
  • Apply judgement and technical expertise across medical, legal, and insurance frameworks to drive fair and timely claim outcomes
  • Manage a portfolio of complex AB claims (Non-MIG / Non-CAT)
  • Conduct detailed claim investigations and determine entitlement under SABS
  • Interpret medical documentation and collaborate with healthcare providers
  • Apply a total cost management approach, including reserving and file strategy
  • Handle exposures such as: Priority of payment, Loss transfer, WSIB
  • Interpret and apply legislation, policy wording, and legal frameworks in claim decisions
  • Support clients through recovery and return-to-function outcomes
  • Negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve claims
