Accessories Product Design Engineer
About The Position
Join Apple’s Accessories Product Design team to shape the future of wired data and power transmission across multiple systems and standalone products. The team leads new product introduction from architectural development through production ramping and collaborates with groups including Industrial Design, Reliability, Technical Program Management, and Hardware Engineering. In this role, you will interface directly with system teams across Mac, Audio, Vision, and other areas. You will design cable solutions efficiently and elegantly, bringing new technologies into cable designs while balancing functionality, size, reliability, cost, cosmetics, and environmental goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and creation of 2D drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting technical data to multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience designing injection-molded and/or compression-molded parts, stamped parts, and/or deep-drawn metal parts.
Nice To Haves
- 5 or more years of product design experience.
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing.
- Experience with component modules such as connectors, batteries, electronics packaging, or PCBAs, or with AC power.
- Understanding of how to size wires and select connectors and shielding to meet signal-integrity and/or power requirements.
- Experience designing stamped sheet-metal parts and/or deep-drawn metal parts.
- Experience working with overseas manufacturers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques.
