About The Position

Utah Valley University’s Accessibility Remediation Team in the Office of Teaching & Learning supports student access to accessible course resources. The Student Accessibility Assistant supports instructional design and support services staff by remediating documents to meet accessibility guidelines, including WCAG 2.0. Work includes addressing headings, alt-text identifiers, bulleted lists, reading order, colors, fonts, and layout. Training will be provided. The position may also be suitable as an internship for certain majors.

Requirements

• Must be a current UVU student.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Must be a self-starter in learning new software tools and finding solutions to problems.
• Knowledge of multiple computer systems, MS Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, email, and Canvas.
• Skill in office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
• Must be detail-oriented and thorough while managing multiple projects.
• Ability to review electronic files with attention to fine details.
• Ability to meet and deal with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and speaking.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and experience working with distance education is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Review electronic files for accessibility details, including headings, alt-text identifiers, bulleted lists, reading order, colors, fonts, and layout.
