About The Position

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a full-time Accessibility and Inclusion Administrator who is passionate about learning new things and giving our guests the best possible experience. This position is a hands-on, roll-up-your sleeves role. Under general supervision, they are responsible for all aspects of the Zoo’s inclusion and accessibility strategy and execution, including Zoo for All. They collaborate across Zoo departments in meeting responsibilities of making the zoo more accessible. In addition, they work with external customers to promote the Zoo for All program. This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, is hourly non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and requires forty hours per the scheduled work week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years progressive experience, or equivalent, working with inclusion and accessibility related issues.
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedule or other department needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of all MS Office products.
  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and execute Toledo Zoo’s five-year strategy which includes, but is not limited to, Zoo for All and Zoo accessibility features.
  • Provides quarterly reports to the SVP HR and to the Vice President of Membership and Development.
  • Develop new and revise existing inclusion and accessibility features, programs, etc.
  • Plan and coordinate events (i.e. Zoo for All Walk, Zoo for All Nights, Inclusion Day/Safari Day, Sensory Locations)
  • Oversee and coordinate programs such as the Summer Youth Program, Owens ASL Collaboration, etc.
  • Manage and conduct sight and audio guided tours
  • Meet with department representatives to accomplish responsibilities that impact the physical Zoo
  • Work with outside agencies to improve our program and to remain current
  • Respond to guest inquiries
  • Track goals and measurement of initiatives
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all areas of responsibility
  • Maintain accessibility website and maps
  • Ensure Toledo Zoo meets all inclusion requirements of AZA
  • Provide grant support to Director of Grants and Foundation Relations
  • Responsible for completing projects as assigned
