About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. We are seeking a proactive Access Coordinator III to serve as a patient resource for scheduling, billing, and data collection across our outpatient services. This role ensures accurate patient information, seamless appointment coordination, and timely billing and collections, while supporting referral management and cross-functional workflows. The Access Coordinator III will supervise and perform duties from the I & II levels and contribute to a collaborative patient care environment. In this role, you will: • Schedule and coordinate appointments via in person or telephone , perform pre-registration, and ensure accurate patient records and orders in hospital systems. • Assist in billing processes, ensure correct insurance and co-pay collection timely claims submission, follow up on payments, and coordinate referrals as needed. • Maintain a welcoming, organized front-end environment and support patient education materials and essential office operations. • Support referral management and collaborate with care teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize patient flow. Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in customer service or healthcare
  • Excellent communication, data entry, and basic computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology is required
  • Basic proficiency with computers and data entry
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in registration, scheduling, or billing in a healthcare setting is preferred
