About The Position

Austin FC is seeking to fill U14, U15, and U18 Academy Head Coach roles. These positions are crucial to the Academy department, responsible for creating an optimal environment for player development for elite-level talents and aspiring professional soccer players. As an Academy Head Coach, you will lead an Academy team, support other academy teams, collaborate with driven sporting professionals, and take ownership of the individual development of each player. You will embrace and help evolve the game model, player development plan, style of play, and academy operations. This role is based in Austin, TX, and will work out of the St. David’s Performance Center. Requirements

  • USSF ‘B’ license – mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience in youth coaching at academy level, age specific 11–17-year-old
  • Proven knowledge of the American soccer system
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret soccer games
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion both internally and externally
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with others
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, enthusiastic, flexible
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Access to reliable transportation to arrive at work site at scheduled time consistently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office; PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Playing experience is a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Experience using game analysis software (Sportscode, Nacsport, Hudl, Coachpaint, Tactical Board) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead exciting and positive daily training sessions and gamedays for youth players.
  • Actively support the Center of Excellence Program to aid youth player recruitment.
  • Extensively review and reflect on training sessions and games.
  • Support other Academy coaches with the execution of their sessions and gamedays.
  • Facilitate and support individual development plans for Academy players.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for both staff and players.
  • Submit daily and weekly training logs according to session builder plan.
  • Attend evening, weekend, and holiday tournaments, competitions, games, and trainings as required.
  • Report and discuss talent in the assigned age category with the Austin FC Scouting Department.
  • Attend scheduled meetings as requested by the soccer leadership team.
