The Academic Tutor is a part-time temporary position within the Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine (IllinoisCOM). The Academic Tutor supports currently enrolled IllinoisCOM students by assisting with academic success strategies. Tutors provide individual and/or group tutoring to students across a broad range of courses based on their personal area of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help students solve specific problems. Tutoring supports classroom-centered activities and is responsive to students identified needs while remaining aligned with course objectives, approved instructional materials, and institutional academic-integrity expectations. Tutors do not complete assignments for students, provide answers to graded work, predict examination content, independently modify course requirements, or serve as the instructor of record. The Academic Tutor reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs. This is a remote position. Tutors will typically be assigned 2 to10 hours per week, depending on availability and need. Applicants should generally be available to tutor at least two days per week. All tutoring sessions will be conducted virtually.
