About The Position

The Academic Support Specialist II in the Office of Health Equity and Engagement will manage and oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the pre-health student support programs initiative. This role will focus on the development, implementation, and management of key support programs, workshops, and events. This role will actively recruit for enrichment programs, create marketing and PR materials, and provide holistic advising for pre-health students. The Academic Support Specialist II will work closely with campus and community stakeholders to develop partnerships, establish resources and support services, and coordinate off-campus experiences for pre-health students. This role will also support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of pathway and enrichment programming, ensuring that initiatives effectively support student preparation for health professions education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate recruitment efforts for the Belknap team by researching and attending events, collaborating with pre-health advisors and professional school recruiters, monitoring the Pre-Health Teams channel, and managing visits and travel.
  • Maintain accurate records of events, student engagement, and follow-up, and oversee a master recruiting calendar to support pipeline program outreach.
  • Develop, implement, and manage workshops, events, and programming that deepen the understanding of the variety of pathways and the essential skills based on holistic review practices for students pursuing careers in the health professions.
  • Coordinate staff and student participation in professional development opportunities, conferences, and visits to regional health professional schools.
  • Support the development and implementation of student enrichment pathway programs for pre-health students and assist in identifying opportunities for program growth and improvement.
  • Incorporate workshops that incorporate critical thinking skills for pre-health students as a core support element of the program and experience.
  • Provide holistic advising and guidance that prioritizes students’ knowledge of the pre-health pathway and specific skill-building for it.
  • Facilitate referrals as appropriate.
  • Recruit students to participate in pipeline and enrichment programs, conduct information sessions, and organize and attend key recruitment conferences.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise interns and student workers.
  • Create marketing materials for programming, manage social media accounts, and conduct PR campaigns.
  • Conduct program evaluations and analyze participation data to support continuous program improvement.
  • Produce individual event reports as well as semester participation reports for designated programs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of systems that track student participation in program offerings and enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with the program leadership and supervisor on strategic initiatives, ad hoc assignments, and projects that support the continued development of pre-health programming.
