About The Position

The Office of Medical Student Success (OMSS) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Enrichment Student Navigator to support enrichment initiatives and assist students in the Med Excel retention program throughout all aspects of their educational journey. Within this context, the Enrichment Student Navigator coordinates structured leadership development activities, serves as a liaison to faculty, staff, and administrators, and facilitates cohort participation in institutional programming. In collaboration with OMSS and the Office of Educational Programs, this position contributes to academic success, professional identity formation, and student engagement while supporting the coordination and delivery of assigned components of the medical curriculum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in applying student leadership theory/practices.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate with all individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in higher education, working with graduate level degree programs.
  • Proficiency with Canvas or other Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience coordinating course logistics, exams, or academic events.
  • Experience working directly with faculty and instructors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with DSAs Department of Student Engagement and Experience to implement Enrichment programming for TCOM students, faculty, and staff.
  • Support the Assistant Director for Enrichment to develop and implement TCOM retention program for first year students.
  • Develop and distribute marketing materials to promote TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with admissions to identify methods to promote the TCOM retention program to newly accepted students to TCOM.
  • Develop and facilitate programming for each component (study skills, board, prep, financial literacy, professional development, Enrichment Programming) for the TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with TCOM faculty, community physicians, and residency programs to develop mentorship program for students in the TCOM retention program.
  • Collaborate with the HSC Division of Student Affairs (DSA) departments such as Center for Academic Performance (CAP), Office of Care and Civility.
  • Facilitate programming and resources for financial literacy.
  • Serve as a liaison to students within the cohort to connect with College Faculty Advisors, Residency Counselors, the Center for Academic Performance (CAP), and the Office of Care and Civility.
  • Student Assistant Resource Center, Testing and Evaluation.
  • Collect data with educational technology/tools as assigned in curricular, cocurricular or assessment activities.
  • Schedule, order food, and take minutes of TCOM retention programming and Enrichment activities.
  • Support and assist with the educational technologies used in the classrooms.
  • Provides support and information to students and leadership on a variety of issues related to the cohort.
  • Complete special projects and duties as assigned.
  • Assist class officers and other students in cohort, and develop a strategy to create community within the cohort and maintain. cohort member enthusiasm and engagement throughout the year.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of all events and activities for the cohort.
  • Gather and provide data under the direction of leadership for all cohort events, which can then be used to assess the proficiency of the program.
  • Actively meet and establish positive/supportive relationships with members of your assigned cohort.
