Academic Medical Research Coordinator

About The Position

Provides advanced coordination and administrative research support for graduate medical education, residency/fellowship programs, and serves as a liaison for undergraduate students involved in medical research at Quillen College of Medicine. This role oversees complex scheduling, data management, and budgetary processes, while serving as the primary point of contact for faculty and trainees. Plays a key role in ensuring that programs meet institutional and regulatory requirements related to research, often working independently and with increased accountability for compliance and program performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in research administration.
  • Equivalent experience of associate’s degree/two (2) years of college plus two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Four (4) years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret, apply, and ensure compliance with university policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, trainees, and stakeholders across varying levels of experience and backgrounds.
  • Proactive and resourceful problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and exercise sound judgment independently.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with institutional policies, privacy regulations, and data security standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MPH, MHA, MS, or related field).
  • CITI/IRB training.
  • Skills in scientific presenting and writing to edit the work of faculty and resident physicians.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in an academic health research setting.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center.
