UNMTemps, the University of New Mexico's internal temporary staffing department, seeks a temporary Academic Intern to join the Center of Global Health in the Department of Internal Medicine. This is a fixed-term assignment for which the candidate has been requested by name. Because the placement is not competitive, it is not eligible for UNMTemps' temp-to-regular program. The internship provides on-the-job training and experience to a high school upperclassman or recent graduate. Under the guidance, mentorship, and close supervision of professional staff and/or faculty, the intern learns in an academic setting and/or applied field of learning. The role carries out ongoing activities and assigned tasks involving a defined technical, operational, professional, and/or research area, with training and mentorship in planning and completing assignments. The assignment is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The anticipated start date is November 1, 2026, and the projected end date is June 30, 2027. The selected employee is responsible for parking arrangements. This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt, hourly position, with a listed pay range of $16.88–$21.14. It is benefits eligible. Employees providing services or working in patient care or clinical areas must comply with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. A background check is required.
