About The Position

The Academic Teacher instructs students in a regular classroom setting in a designated subject area, with a willingness to teach Math [TABE]. The instructor fosters a positive classroom atmosphere to support student motivation, maintains classroom discipline to promote learning, establishes rapport with students, and uses available curriculum resources. The role also includes maintaining student personnel folders and recording and forwarding daily attendance to Student Records. The position is with Potomac Job Corps in Washington, D.C. Job Corps is a nationwide residential career training program that helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete high school, prepare for careers, and obtain employment.

Requirements

Certified to teach in Washington, D.C.
Willing to teach Math [TABE].
Pass a drug screen in compliance with the Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
Successfully complete a nationwide criminal background check; employment is contingent on completion.

Nice To Haves

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.
