About The Position

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (Department). The Academic HR Coordinator will coordinate academic personnel activities including recruitment, appointments, merit increases, promotions, benefits, sabbaticals, and compensation actions. This role will also support employee and labor relations matters, including grievances, layoffs, union-related issues, and policy interpretation. Additionally, the coordinator will manage staff HR processes, training and development activities, and time and leave reporting while ensuring compliance with departmental and university requirements. The position involves analyzing personnel issues, preparing recommendations, maintaining accurate records, and providing guidance on academic personnel policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting academic personnel, human resources, employee relations, or administrative operations in a complex organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information, identify trends, and develop logical recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage a high-volume workload effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of university academic personnel policies and procedures, particularly within higher education environments.
  • Experience with academic recruitment, appointments, promotions, and merit review processes.
  • Experience supporting faculty affairs, academic affairs, or HR functions in a healthcare or academic medical center setting.
