About The Position

Washington State University Tri Cities is seeking an Academic Engagement Coordinator to promote innovative ideas and solutions to advance student academic success and professional development. This role drives and reinforces students’ academic and career-connected learning through the evaluation and enhancement of resources, processes, and events affiliated with the Office of Academic Engagement, including the Library, Writing Center, Tutoring Center, and Undergraduate Research. The coordinator will also serve as the primary contact for internal and external constituents and manage the office administration for the College of Arts & Sciences. Duties include assisting with faculty recruitment and onboarding, travel processing, purchasing and budget management, and event coordination. The individual will also assist with course scheduling and support the Academic Director in the interpretation and enforcement of faculty policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND three years of clerical, office or administrative experience.
  • OR an Associate’s degree in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field may substitute for experience AND one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 2 or two years as an Administrative Assistant 1.
  • OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to take initiative.
  • The ability to coordinate multiple programs and deadlines and solve problems for a wide range of complex tasks.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills including productive and collaborative working relationships with a broad range of internal and external constituents or customers.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
  • The ability to coordinate multiple programs and deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Washington State University including experience with university policies and procedures, particularly with course scheduling processes and procedures.

  • Experience working with a multi-campus system, academic rules, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of admissions and recruitment processes.

  • Experience working with student records.
