About The Position

At College Living Experience (CLE), academic success is built through study sessions, conversations with professors, time-management planning, problem-solving challenges, and everyday moments where students learn to navigate college with greater confidence and independence. As an Academic Coach, you'll help neurodiverse young adults discover how they learn best and develop the skills needed to succeed in college and beyond. You'll work alongside students to strengthen executive functioning, organization, study habits, self-advocacy, and academic confidence while helping them navigate the challenges of higher education. The ideal candidate believes that success looks different for every student and is excited to help neurodiverse young adults build confidence, overcome challenges, achieve their educational goals, and create a strong foundation for lifelong learning and independence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, counseling, or a related field
  • Teaching/tutoring experience (1+ year preferred).
  • Experience supporting students with learning differences or special education (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to tailor instruction to individual learning needs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Have at least one year of licensed driving experience
  • Meet company motor vehicle insurance requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring writing, English, literature, history, communications, philosophy, political science, or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized academic coaching and tutoring based on each student's learning style, strengths, and academic goals.
  • Review syllabi, assignments, grades, and course requirements to help students create realistic semester and weekly plans.
  • Teach and reinforce executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, prioritization, task initiation, and study strategies.
  • Help students prepare for exams, complete projects, and develop effective note-taking and learning techniques.
  • Support students in communicating with professors, academic advisors, and campus Disability Support Services (DSS) when appropriate.
  • Foster self-advocacy, problem-solving, and independent learning skills.
  • Build strong mentoring relationships that encourage accountability, confidence, and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with social, career development, and independent living staff to ensure students receive coordinated support across all domains.
  • Participate in team meetings, student reviews, and problem-solving discussions.
  • Document student progress, coaching sessions, and action plans in BestNotes following each student meeting.
  • Communicate concerns, successes, and recommendations to the Academic Coordinator and interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate records and support student goal tracking throughout the semester.
