About The Position

The College of Nursing at the University of Iowa is seeking an Academic Clinical Program Management Specialist. This position supports the University of Iowa’s College of Nursing advising initiatives for graduate programs. Responsibilities will require occasional time outside of the 8:00 am – 5:00 pm workday to support advising and success initiatives and other events which may include evening commitments. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Typically, one year or more of current experience in program management or secondary education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated by the ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information and needs through appropriate communication methods and behaviors to provide excellent customer service and maintain working relationships.
  • Ability to perform duties in a team-oriented, fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, multitask, be detail oriented and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office. (Ex. Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom and Social Media)
  • Valid drivers license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic advising at an academic institution (community college or four-year institution)
  • Prior experience in event planning
  • Knowledge of and experience with University of Iowa policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and assess orienation programs that align with the expectations of the University and College of Nursing.
  • Assess and improve delivery of academic advising for students in nursing programs to ensure student success and preparation for a successful transition to professional and/or advanced practice.
  • Utilize Power BI database to project course enrollments and provide reports to faculty.
  • Manage academic progression processes for students, including academic probation and dismissal.
  • Serve as the Graduate Coordinator for the College of Nursing.
  • Communicate standards and policies to prospective and current students.
  • Annually review and assess respective program student handbooks; recommend updates as needed.
  • Assess communications of essential information to ensure student success and make changes to improve content and process.
  • Identify key campus partners or external stakeholders, collaborate to develop communication plans, and assess outcomes to ensure successful communication.
  • Serve as special advisors within Assemblies and provide administrative support.
  • Compose original correspondence requiring discretion and judgment.
  • Develop advising program outcomes or other resources to foster student success using evidence-based practices.
  • Assess advising program outcomes, identify gaps, and recommend opportunities to foster student success.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver ongoing advising training for advising program team.
  • Maintain an advising handbook on the Felton Student Success Center Teams site.
  • Develop and monitor the operational budget for the advising program.
  • Initiate purchasing requests for supplies and equipment.
  • Serve as back-up reception support for the Felton Student Success Center as needed.
