About The Position

This role provides individualized and small-group academic support based on student needs and instructional plans. The specialist will implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and other behavior support strategies, reinforce classroom expectations, and assist students in developing appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills. The position involves teaching and modeling coping, self-regulation, and problem-solving strategies, as well as collecting, documenting, and reporting behavioral and academic data accurately and consistently. The specialist will support students in remaining engaged and on task during classroom instruction, collaborate with educational staff, and assist with de-escalation techniques using approved crisis prevention methods when necessary. Maintaining accurate documentation, encouraging student independence, and upholding student confidentiality are also key aspects of this role. Attendance at required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities is expected. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a related field required.
  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate preferred or required based on district assignment.
  • Additional training or certification in behavior management, trauma-informed practices, crisis prevention, or social-emotional learning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and small-group academic support based on student needs and instructional plans.
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and other behavior support strategies as directed.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations and assist students in developing appropriate social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Teach and model coping, self-regulation, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Collect, document, and report behavioral and academic data accurately and consistently.
  • Support students in remaining engaged and on task during classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school counselors, behavior specialists, and other educational staff to support student success.
  • Assist with de-escalation techniques using approved crisis prevention methods when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete required reports in a timely manner.
  • Encourage student independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities.
