About The Position

The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of nearly 9,000 students, making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Nationally recognized, cutting-edge degrees enable students to learn beyond the classroom, preparing them to become leaders in their fields. This position is responsible for advising student on degree/program requirements and course scheduling. Maintains and updates student status records, transcript evaluations, degree plan audits, and graduation applications. Responsible for taking a leadership role in training and mentoring other advisors, participating in outreach/recruitment activities, managing special projects and/or serving as a subject matter expert on specialized majors and determining how transfer credits apply toward degree requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively.
  • Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Responsibilities

  • Advise students individually and in group settings regarding degree requirements and University and College Policies. Make referrals to campus offices as necessary.
  • Prepare and update degree audits: evaluating and applying transfer work in accordance with University and College policies.
  • Process graduation applications and degree plans: as assigned to meet RCoB and University deadlines.
  • Prepare and present Ryan College of Business degree information at new student orientations and other group activities.
  • Contribute to the overall organizational health and performance of the Ryan College of Business Undergraduate Programs Office through teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional development and professional relationship building.
  • Demonstrates commitment and ability to support all stakeholders within the academic community.
