About The Position

The Academic Advisor provides comprehensive academic advising, project management, assessment, communications, and student success support for the Jack C. Massey College of Business (MCB). This position serves as a primary resource for undergraduate students, faculty advisors, and campus partners while coordinating advising operations, orientation programming, communications, assessment initiatives, and continuous process improvement efforts that promote student retention, persistence, and graduation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Two years’ experience working with students in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate College of Business students, transfer students, business minors, and change/double majors.
  • Meet with prospective COB majors and newly admitted students to discuss academic programs, curriculum, and degree requirements.
  • Assist with assigning and maintaining faculty advisor assignments.
  • Conduct graduation audits and degree evaluations to ensure timely degree completion.
  • Review transfer coursework and process transfer substitutions.
  • Process prerequisite overrides, course overrides, and other registration overrides/exceptions.
  • Manage course waitlists and assist students with registration planning.
  • Monitor student records and maintain accurate advising documentation.
  • Develop advising resources and educational materials for students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with campus partners including Athletics, Study Abroad, and Registrar's Office to support student success.
  • Coordinate daily advising operations and maintain advising workflows.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve advising processes and office procedures.
  • Maintain advising documentation, internal handbooks, calendars, and operational resources.
  • Create and manage shared office resources, templates, and process guides.
  • Coordinate advising schedules and operational timelines.
  • Organize and maintain student tracking systems and advising records.
  • Serve as a central point of contact for advising-related questions and operational issues.
  • Maintain undergraduate student lists and monitor changes in majors, minors, withdrawals, leaves of absence, and graduation status.
  • Develop orientation programming, presentations, and student materials.
  • Manage orientation communications and registration preparation.
  • Create and administer pre-orientation surveys and other assessment tools.
  • Coordinate student registration support during orientation sessions.
  • Prepare orientation resources for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with university partners to ensure a successful onboarding experience for incoming students.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret advising and student success data.
  • Utilize Argos, Qualtrics, Excel, and other reporting tools to support decision-making.
  • Conduct course audits and academic data reviews.
  • Develop and administer advising assessment surveys.
  • Analyze survey results and recommend operational improvements.
  • Create reports and dashboards to support advising initiatives.
  • Support assessment planning and implementation for advising initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain the Massey Advising brand and communication strategy.
  • Maintain advising information and resources on MyCommunity.
  • Coordinate communication with students, faculty, and campus partners.
  • Develop consistent messaging and marketing materials for advising initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development activities to remain current on advising best practices.
  • Participate in university-level and MCB committees as needed.
  • Support university events including commencement and other student success initiatives.
