About The Position

The Experience Technician is essential in ensuring an optimal experience at Arizona Science Center, and is responsible for using exemplary service and technical skills throughout the Irene P. Flinn Giant Screen Theater, the Dorrance DOME, and the Center’s exhibit galleries. The Experience Technician ensures high quality implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the audio & visual technical components of shows, special events and exhibits at Arizona Science Center to inspire, educate, and engage curious minds and create positive and memorable experiences for Center guests of all ages.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years related experience, education and/"or training.
  • An understanding of Audio/Video equipment, systems, tools, software, and programs is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Ability to work with basic to moderate mathematical concepts, such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work with statistics, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and graph development and analyzing.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch; balance; climb; crawl; reach; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to operate, maintain, and/or install equipment;
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
  • Safely operate equipment carts, pallet jacks and scissor lifts;
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus;
  • This job also requires the use of a computer which will be placed somewhere in the employee’s workspace. The employee must have the necessary keyboard and computer mouse skills as well as the ability to read a color monitor;

  • Ability to use/be trained on use of scissor lift and/or other lift equipment

Responsibilities

  • Supports all A/V and Theater technical work as needed.
  • Works across teams to understand and implement the technical aspects of special events, anticipate non-stated technical needs, and ensures the set-up and operation of various audio/visual equipment, including sound mixers, microphones, stage lights, video projectors, etc.
  • Assists with Exhibit/Theatrical lighting throughout the Center, including traveling shows
  • Operates projectors and audio equipment to provide scheduled daily shows and special events in Giant Screen Theater.
  • Under the direction of management, ensures all equipment in booths and theaters, are maintained in first class condition at all times through regular maintenance
  • Provides troubleshooting for all theater and A/V equipment
  • Assists in maintaining storage, organization, and inventory of A/V equipment and Projection supplies
