About The Position

The Chemical / Material Handler is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient management of chemicals and materials throughout their entire lifecycle within a semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role oversees all aspects of chemical handling, including procurement support, receiving, storage, distribution, point-of-use delivery, inventory control, and hazardous waste collection and disposal. The position ensures strict adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards while maintaining full traceability, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness to support 24/7 fab operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical handling, material management, or manufacturing support
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and chemical safety practices
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and follow strict protocols
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and move materials in accordance with safety guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or similar high-tech industry
  • HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Familiarity with chemical inventory systems and tracking software
  • Knowledge of chemical delivery systems and gas monitoring systems
  • Forklift or material handling equipment certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage chemicals and materials from procurement through final disposal, ensuring full lifecycle accountability
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming chemicals against purchase orders and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Label, store, and handle chemicals according to compatibility and hazard classifications
  • Deliver chemicals to production areas, ensuring safe transport and proper documentation
  • Monitor chemical usage and maintain accurate inventory levels
  • Maintain real-time inventory tracking systems for all chemicals and materials
  • Ensure proper labeling, barcoding, and traceability of all materials
  • Manage SDS documentation and ensure accessibility and compliance
  • Support cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies
  • Collect, segregate, label, and store hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory and site requirements
  • Coordinate with certified waste vendors for timely and compliant disposal
  • Maintain waste manifests, logs, and cradle-to-grave documentation
  • Ensure proper handling of chemical waste streams, including acids, solvents, and toxic materials
  • Adhere to all EHS policies, including OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulations
  • Follow HAZWOPER guidelines and site-specific hazardous material procedures
  • Utilize appropriate PPE and enforce safe handling practices
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident response as required
  • Identify and escalate safety risks or non-compliance issues
  • Support production teams with chemical availability and readiness
  • Assist with chemical delivery systems, bulk chemical distribution, and gas monitoring systems as needed
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and EHS teams to support site operations
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to chemical handling and efficiency
