About The Position

USA Jet Power, established in 2022 by USA Jet Airlines, is a 14 CFR Part 145 Air Agency Repair Station located in Oscoda, Michigan. It specializes in the maintenance, inspection, and testing of Pratt and Whitney JT8D turbofan engines, which are certified for Boeing 727, 737, Douglas DC-9, and MD88 aircraft. The facility is a state-of-the-art 51,000 sq ft building that supports engine repair operations and parts warehousing. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must possess a current airframe and powerplant certificate.
  • Minimum one (1) year aviation experience and Jet Engine Shop and/or one (1) year experience on JT8D type engines (1-17AR, -200 series).
  • Knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Must be able to remain calm during adverse conditions.
  • Must be able to think and react quickly with a sense of urgency to time-sensitive problem situations.
  • Detailed organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to successfully pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a Fingerprint Based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Nice To Haves

  • Computer software knowledge of key Microsoft Office platforms including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • A&P Mechanics may be required to have certain valid ratings depending on the type of work they are to perform.
  • Before performing any duties for USA Jet Power, the mechanic will be properly qualified and authorized.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul, maintenance, and repair of powerplants and associated components in accordance with USA Jet Power manuals, Manufacturer's manuals, Bulletins, and Orders.
  • Mechanics will be required to sign for work accomplished.
  • Constantly be alert for defective, worn, or failed parts as well as safe working conditions.
  • May be assigned to housekeeping duties such as policing their work area or repair and maintenance of Company property.
  • Actively participate in USA Jet Safety Programs.
  • Report all safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that they and their co-workers are performing their functions in the safest possible manner.
  • Follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration with legal authority at the location at which they are working.
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by their Lead or Senior Manager.
