About The Position

USA Jet Power is a 14 CFR Part 145 Air Agency Repair Station located in Oscoda, Michigan, authorized to perform maintenance, inspection and testing on Pratt and Whitney JT8D turbofan engines that are certificated to operate upon Boeing 727, 737, Douglas DC-9 and MD88 aircraft. USA Jet Power is housed in a state-of-the-art 51,000 sq ft facility that supports its engine repair operations and parts warehousing. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must possess a current airframe and powerplant certificate.
  • Minimum one (1) year aviation experience and Jet Engine Shop and or one (1) year experience on JT8D type engines (1-17AR, -200 series).
  • Knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • A&P Mechanics may be required to have certain valid ratings depending on the type of work they are to perform. Before performing any duties for USA Jet Power, the mechanic will be properly qualified and authorized.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • Must be able to remain calm during adverse conditions.
  • Must be able to think and react quickly with a sense of urgency to time-sensitive problem situations.
  • Detailed organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must be physically able to operate Company vehicles and equipment on airport and over-the-road.
  • To be able to perform the job of an Aircraft Mechanic/Technician/Inspector, employees are required to possess the minimum tools as outlined on departmental tool list.
  • Must be able to successfully pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a Fingerprint Based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Nice To Haves

  • Computer software knowledge of key Microsoft Office platforms including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul, maintenance and repair of powerplants, and associated components in accordance with USA Jet Power manuals, Manufacturer's manuals, Bulletins, and Orders.
  • Mechanics will be required to sign for work accomplished
  • The Mechanic, in performing his duties, is required to be constantly alert for defective, worn, or failed parts as well as safe working conditions
  • The Mechanic may be assigned to such housekeeping duties as policing his work area or repair and maintenance of Company property
  • Responsible to actively participate in USA Jet Safety Programs. Required to report all safety concerns in a timely manner. Required to ensure that they and their co-workers are performing their functions in the safest possible manner. Required to follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration with legal authority at the location at which they are working
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by their Lead or Senior Manager
