About The Position

Full-time 911 Dispatcher position. Starting Wage is $26.68-28.04 (depending on experience and qualifications) plus regular step increases. Position is 40 hours per week, rotating schedule. Progressive wage scale and fringe benefits are included. $1/hour shift differential for night shift and $2/hour for training officers. This job requires the availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 911 Dispatchers work 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

Minimum 20 years of age
U.S. citizen
No felony or domestic crime convictions
High school diploma or equivalent
Self-motivated
Detail oriented
Ability to work independently of others
Basic office, computer and written skills
Ability to promptly verbally communicate accurate information in stressful situations
Completion of an on-the-job training program and related recertification requirements upon employment
Successful applicants may be required to complete a written test, oral interview, background investigation (these requirements may be waived if currently employed and performing the described related duties).

Responsibilities

Answering emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services county-wide.
Determining nature and location of emergency, priority, and dispatching appropriate agencies in accordance with well-established agency policies and procedures.
Providing detailed call information to responding units.
Maintaining status and awareness of all unit locations.
Maintaining a log of all aforementioned information.
Assisting the public in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office.
Performing inquiries and criminal history checks for law enforcement county-wide through NCIC and NCJIS systems.
Collecting statistical data for reports.
Updating and ensuring the accuracy of the database.
Operating the TIME System and other databases.
Entering, clearing, maintaining, and validating agency warrants.
Coordinating efforts with other agencies.
Maintaining statistics on warrants and extraditions.
