About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an 8th grade science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is available at KIPP VOICE Academy. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their Principal. In our current model, there are four "home room" teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a core subject. Class size is typically about 26 students per class. Subjects on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Fifth grade is considered part of our middle school model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas: Elementary Education K-6 for 5th or 6th grade Science, Middle Grades Science 5-9 for grades 5,6,7, or 8, or Biology 6-12 for grades 6,7, or 8.
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
  • Possesses a deep commitment to creating an inclusive, healthy, and empowering community for our students.
  • Passing a background check, as required by law

Nice To Haves

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
  • ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
