About The Position

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an 8th grade science teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is available at KIPP VOICE Academy. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. The role involves teaching one grade level, with typically about 26 students per class. Subjects taught on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Fifth grade is considered part of the middle school model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Elementary Education K-6 for 5th or 6th grade Science, Middle Grades Science 5-9 for grades 5,6,7, or 8, or Biology 6-12 for grades 6,7, or 8.
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Passing a background check, as required by law, through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
  • ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
