Coach - 7th Grade Boys Basketball Coach - 8632 - BGMS
About The Position
This is an extracurricular coaching position paying an annual stipend. The role involves assisting coaches in various secondary school athletic programs, promoting sports within the school and community, and contributing to the planning and execution of the athletic program. The coach will help supervise practices, teach fundamental skills, team strategy, and the rules of the game, while also emphasizing good sportsmanship and self-control. Additionally, the role includes assisting with participant eligibility, providing guidance and support to student athletes, and recommending equipment purchases.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E. D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law and 64 semester hours.
- Successful completion of criminal record check, AIDS awareness training, and current certification in first aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Assist in promoting sports in the school and community.
- Assist head coach in planning the athletic program.
- Assist the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
- Assist the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
- Assist the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self-control.
- Assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
- Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Conduct learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
