About The Position

Abilene Middle School is seeking a 7th Grade Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for the upcoming 2026–2027 season, which runs from December through February. The coach will help develop players and improve the team while supporting a cohesive, development-focused boys basketball program aligned across grades 3–12. The role involves collaboration with coaching staff throughout the program and modeling Abilene’s core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce the fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of basketball.
• Support individual player development and team improvement.
• Collaborate with the 7th grade head coach, 8th grade coaching staff, high school coaches, and youth coaches to promote consistency, shared terminology, and alignment throughout the program.
• Assist in planning and implementing structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Build positive relationships with student athletes and communicate effectively with players, parents, and coaching staff.
• Support the head coach in establishing expectations, developing team culture, and managing daily program responsibilities.
• Contribute to a cohesive, development-focused boys basketball program aligned from grades 3–12.
• Model and reinforce Abilene’s core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.
• Be a positive, collaborative team member committed to contributing to and strengthening the Abilene Boys Basketball program.
