The 6th Grade JV Basketball Coach at Northwood Middle School is responsible for providing knowledge, motivation, and leadership in an activity that allows students to excel to their full potential. The role aims to foster an atmosphere that contributes to a student's total education, including physical well-being, moral character, and social and mental development. The coach will instruct athletes on techniques, rules, and safety practices, develop and organize practice programs, and schedule and conduct practices. They must supervise athletes from the beginning of practice or games until the last athlete is picked up, ensuring their whereabouts are known at all times. The coach is expected to promote the school's interscholastic program in harmony with the total school program, set an example of ethical and moral conduct, and foster an appreciation for the values of athletics, good sportsmanship, and pride in self, team, school, and community. Additionally, the coach will promote a healthy lifestyle, ensure all required documentation and medical examinations are completed before the season, communicate with parents about team rules and guidelines, and address athletic performance or conduct issues with parents/guardians as necessary. The coach must adhere to state, conference, and district regulations, safety laws, district policies, and injury care procedures. They must also provide equal opportunities to all athletes and complete required training and certifications.
