About The Position

GLOW Academy is seeking a passionate 6th Grade ELA Teacher dedicated to supporting student mastery of English Language Arts and fostering critical thinking skills for success in college and beyond. This role involves collaborating with colleagues and school families to achieve the school's vision for students. GLOW Academy focuses on "whole girl" education, nurturing leadership, confidence, and family support within a rigorous college preparatory program. The curriculum emphasizes leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness, and expanded opportunities in STEM and the arts to ensure a successful 6-12 experience and college readiness. Requirements

  • NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach middle school.
  • Passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area (middle school ELA).
  • Experience in teaching middle school ELA.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement positive behavior practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and families to support student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study.
  • Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities.
  • Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority is required for employment.
