About The Position
The 6th Grade Classroom Teacher with Science Emphasis will provide students with age-appropriate learning activities and experiences in core academic subject areas, focusing on intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. This role involves nurturing the comprehensive development of all children through diverse instructional strategies that cater to varied learning styles. The teacher will establish and maintain a productive classroom environment, manage student behavior, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. A commitment to continued professional development, adherence to district policies, and maintenance of student records using technology are essential. Confidentiality and participation in a work team are also key aspects of this position.
Requirements
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certification required with DI or DX Endorsement
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited College or University
- Criminal background check including fingerprinting required

- Provide students with age-appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject areas.
- Help students reach their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.
- Nurture comprehensive development of all children using a broad repertoire of instructional strategies that honors varied learning styles.
- Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, and other staff both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrate a willingness to be highly engaged in continued professional development.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Participate as part of a work team and work effectively with colleagues.
- Adhere to all building and district policies regarding attendance, business procedures, safety, professionalism, and personal appearance.
- Maintain student records, student achievement, and attendance using district-approved technology.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by the building principal.
