5th Grade Elementary Teaching Assistant
About The Position
Great Hearts Archway Anthem is seeking a passionate 5th Grade Teaching Assistant to join their growing network of classical schools. This role supports the lead teacher in implementing a rich Core Knowledge curriculum and provides an opportunity to learn the craft of teaching through mentorship. Requirements
- Experience working with elementary students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- An interest in reading great books.
- US work authorization is required.
- Ability to pass a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance.
- Standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
- Ability to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- OPT/CPT candidates are accepted.
- May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in the implementation of a rich Core Knowledge curriculum.
- Function as a second teacher in the classroom, assisting with instruction, student learning, and daily classroom activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to support instruction, student learning, and daily classroom activities.
- Uphold school policies and promote an orderly, professional learning environment.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school events, conferences, and assigned duties.
- Pursue ongoing professional growth and a deepening knowledge of the classical tradition.
