About The Position

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our team at the AMS Power Campus for the 2026–2027 school year. This full-time position begins July 20, 2026. The 5th Grade Teacher plays a critical role in preparing students for the transition to middle school by strengthening academic independence, critical thinking, and mastery of grade-level standards across all core subject areas. The ideal candidate creates a structured, engaging classroom where students are challenged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop the skills necessary for long-term academic success. AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe every scholar can achieve at high levels through rigorous instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Elementary Education, or a related field; OR a valid Arizona teaching certificate in Elementary Education; OR a minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
  • Obtain or be eligible to obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Pass all required background checks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities.
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills and a data-driven instructional mindset.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, collaboration, adaptability, and initiative in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with the AMS curriculum and Arizona Academic Standards.
  • Teach all core content areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessment data to drive instructional planning, intervention, and enrichment.
  • Develop students' critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and organizational skills in preparation for middle school.
  • Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
  • Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
  • Foster students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and leadership development.
  • Promote student accountability, independence, and ownership of learning.
  • Participate in weekly professional development and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and campus leadership to continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that support student achievement and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through consistent communication regarding student progress and achievement.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and collaborate with families to support student success.
