About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 5th Grade Teacher at West Park Bilingual Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will provide a superior education for students, bring the curriculum to life, and create a positive classroom environment that prioritizes learning and social-emotional development. West Park Bilingual Academy serves families throughout West Cleveland with a college-preparatory program emphasizing hands-on, project-based learning and bilingual instruction. The school prioritizes students’ social and emotional well-being and embraces the values of Community, Integrity, Resilience, and Excellence. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K–12 students across the United States.
Requirements
- Active, current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities, as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
