About The Position

Appleview Elementary is seeking a long-term substitute for a 5th-grade classroom to cover a temporary absence while the teacher is out on maternity leave. This position will involve a primarily ELA focus and working closely with the 5th-grade team to ensure continuity of instruction during this time. This position would run from August 18th to October 16th.

Requirements

• Michigan Substitute Certification (60 Credit Hours)
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach 5th Grade ELA using established curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources.
• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support a range of learners.
• Utilize technology effectively, including PowerSchool and Google Classroom to manage assignments, assessments, and communication.
• Collaborate with the 5th grade team
• Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability.
• Carry out all standard teacher responsibilities, including attendance, grading, supervision, and communication with students and families as needed.
• Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
